Your first poetry collection, Bridled, comes out in Spring 2018 from Pleiades Press. The cover art is beautiful. How did you and the people at Pleiades Press come up with that concept?
I worked with Pleiades Press's amazing designer, Sarah Nguyen. She read through the manuscript and brainstormed a list of artists that she associated with my writing. I looked through and loved "Figure with Butterflies" by Stas Orlovski. From there, Sarah got Stas to sign on and made an initial design for us to iterate off. It was really collaborative and easy and I could not have asked for a better experience.
"Good is what you become when you think someone is looking." is, no bullshit, one of the best poems I've ever read. I especially loved the line:
"I wanted to be together on the sidewalk, together
at the farmer's market, two shark fins cruising."
I don't really have a question here, but everyone should read that poem.
