What is your process like when you put together a bit for your act?
I used to sit down and write stuff out but these days it’s a lot looser. I’ll usually have an idea for a joke, work it out a little in my head, write down a little reminder in my notes app and throw it into a set at my next show. I think there’s an advantage to not trying to be really precise about settling on a particular phrasing, because it keeps your delivery feeling more direct and conversational rather than rehearsed.
Any big summer plans?
I might go to Berlin. Scope out the expatriate scene, see how much I need to save up to have the option of moving there when Trump starts rolling out American Ninja Warrior death squads or whatever.
What can people expect from your performance?
A lot of shorter jokes. Over the past year or so I’ve been working on making my act tighter and more efficient, so I never get too bogged down in a longer bit. Unless you guys like longer bits. Tweet at me if you have requests.
