Are you doing anything special in August?

I just started a new job as deputy editor of Real Future at Fusion, so I'm nose to the grindstone this August. But I have to admit that there's part of me that considers sitting in air conditioning special.

What have you worked on in the past year that you're most happy with?

This past year I think I did my best work for Matter, where I was a staff writer. It was the first digital publication to win a National Magazine Award in the reporting category for an investigation, but I'm really proud of everything we produced. I mostly investigated cultural topics like the pink ghetto of social media, drake apps, and frexting, to name a few.

What can people expect from your reading?

I want to say that it will be funny, but people usually find my "funny" work deeply sad. So how about this: you can expect it to be sincere. I don't know how your feelings will feel.
