A Brief Interview with Business Casual Santa

What made you want to make the change from your usual uniform?

I first made the change in 2012 after 30,000 Santa impersonators overran the streets of New York City with vomit, urine and violence. SantaCon had already been growing in a contained manner throughout San Francisco, Seattle and Portland since the mid-90's, but this year was unlike anything I'd seen before. I wanted to distance myself from the bar crawl Santas and bring an heir of reverence back to the Santa uniform itself, (which I've done once a year ever since).

Are you the same person as the regular, traditional Santa Claus or are you a different person?

I'm "Traditional Santa Claus" 364 days a year.
On the ninth day of this month, I'm "Business Casual Santa."
