Are you doing anything special this summer?

Man, I was just talking to Amanda [Simpson] about this last night, like what plans we should make. We wanna go to New Orleans at some point but more like in early fall. I'll have to go home at some point, to Virginia, and see my parents and some friends. Gotta go to Coney Island or something. I was looking at tickets for a bus to Fire Island, which might be fun but also last time she and I went to the beach, when we first moved here, we put on plenty of sunscreen and still got so badly burned we could hardly lie down to sleep at night. We're ill-equipped.

If I wanted to be shameless I could also use this space to say that the writer Amira Pierce and I are co-hosting a reading called Funny/ Sexy/ Sad on July 14th, with guests Alana Levinson, Cassie J Sneider, Mara Jebsen, Corey Eastwood and Lucas Gardner, at Molasses Books at 8 pm, where everybody has to read something super-funny, miserable, or sex-related.

What have you worked on in the past year that you're most happy with?

This just came out on the Barrelhouse blog, which I like a lot.

What can people expect from your reading?

I'm either going to read about a real-life giant dog I had to take care of a few years ago, or a short story I wrote.
