RS: How's your summer going?
TP: This is my third summer in New York and so far it's been the best one. The city I love and hope never to leave has seemed less like a damp swampy hellhole this year.
What have you worked on in the past year that you're most happy with?
Weirdly, my two favourite experiences recently have been outside of the things I usually write about. I just finished up a big project reporting on the Women's World Cup (I'm not sure what the etiquette is for expensing beer I drank in bars that were playing the matches but I'm going to find out) and I recently interviewed an adventurer who was completing a 3-year expedition around the world. She's planning to get married when she gets back to England, but hasn't set a date yet because "there are no guarantees with the ocean", which is the most badass thing I've ever heard.
A couple of my tweets have also been quite good.
What can people expect from your reading?
A piece of breathtaking emotional depth and masterful comedy. That or I'll just copy something off one of the other performers.
